Nuzvid is very famous for mangoes called "NUZVID CHINNA RASAM".

NUZVID (Nuzuvidu, nuzividu, nuziveedu)
Nuzvid is a historical fort city in Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh, India.

It was founded by late Meka Basavarayudu, the chieftain of Rani Rudrama Devi of Orugallu dynasty. The city is famous for Rajahs, Dasara festival, chedugudu/Kabaddi (Rural sports), Baskect Ball and variety of Mangoes.

"Nuzvid Chinna Rasalu(a type of small mangoes) and Pedda Rasalu(large mangoes) each Pedda Rasam mango weighs as much as 3 kg and they are very sweet and tasty & world famous."

* The first film studio of Tollywood 'Sobhanachala Studio' was estblished at Chennai by the Nuzvidian.


* The first English-Telugu dictionary was prepared by Sankaranarayana with the financial help of Nuzvid Rajahs.


* In Andhra history, the first mutiny was held by Nuzvidians aginst French colonials.


* Nuzvid soil cultivated rich history, culture and heritage.
The famous Nuzvidian 'Dharma Appa Rao' was well known for his magnanimity and charitable nature. Several academic organizations are established on his name.
Late Sri M.R. Appa Rao (90), Born in Nuzvid zamindar family, he plunged into politics early in life. He was elected to the Assembly from Nuzvid in all elections from 1952 to 1978 and was popular political personality in AP state as he held several important positions such as Prohibition Minister in First AP Cabinet, twice he become VC of Andhra University, MP of Rajya Sabha etc.

He was a minister in the Cabinets of Neelam Sanjiva Reddy and Brahmananda Reddi. He was later elected to the Rajya Sabha.He was a contemporary of Bezwada Gopala Reddyand P.V.G. Raju.

His outstanding academic contribution towards establishing SRR ZP High School, DAR College and PG Centre is worth remembering by all Nuzvidians. He was part of the history of Philanthropic Nuzvid

He died at Nuzvid on January 31st after prolonged illness. He is survived by wife and an adopted son.

Nuzvidians spread all over the world.Every year Nuzvidians get together at Washington D.C for attending Nuzividolla Mahasabha. .

Geography :
Nuzvid is located at 16.78° N 80.85° E[1]. It has an average elevation of 88 metres (288 feet).Demographics :As of 2001 India census[2],
Nuzvid had a population of 50,338. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Nuzvid has an average literacy rate of 69%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 74%, and female literacy is 63%. In Nuzvid, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.

SRRZP High School (Sri Raja Rangarayappa Zilla Parishad High School)- 1893--which is more than 114 years old, is one of the oldest schools in Andhra Pradesh and lot of celebrities studied in this school.This school Centenary celebrations were held in 1993.Other Prominent Schools are

Nuzvid Veena, Sitar, Tanpura
Each Nuzvid Veena is painstakingly crafted by a highly skilled Master Craftsmen with at least 25 years experience. Each veena will vary slightly in the instrument decorations on the body as these are not mass produced but individually hand crafted.

These Beautiful Veenas are usually made out aged and seasoned Mango Wood Or Neem wood and have 24 brass frets. These Nuzvid Veenas have 4 main strings and 3 talam strings and 7 tuning pegs.These Veenas also have double sound boards on the head of the musical instrument for enhanced sound reproduction.

These full sized Hand Crafted Veenas measure 53 inches in overall length with the breadth of the musical instrument at its widest point is 15.5 inches. The overall height of this Veena is 15 inches from its base to the highest point. Each of these full Sized Professional Grade Nuzvid Veena comes complete with its own specially costructed and reinforced.

Nuzvid is also famous for its estates(Homes or offices of Kings). There are approximately 12 estates in Nuzvid. It's also worth visiting to see the famous Kukkala Gate (Dogs Gate) and Gurrala Gate(Horse Gate)


Hanuman Temple, Saraswati Temple, Ayyappa Temples are located 5 km away from Nuzvid. Hanuman Temple is also famous with the name Adavi Anjaneya Swami Temple. There are only two Saraswati temples located in Andhrapradesh. The other Saraswati temple is in Basara, one of the largest towns in Andhra Pradesh.
